After months of anticipation, the Salvation Army's Tree of Lights campaign is oh-so-close to it's $100,000 goal. With just two days remaining in the campaign, $3,500 needs to be collected for it to be considered a success. "Right now we're at $96,500" Capt. Elmer Trapp of the Salvation Army said Sunday. Being a 110 percent booster of Scott Central for over 25 years, we followed Marcus through his entire career there. I commented to Coach Rich Herrin at our '91 Athletic Banquet that Timmons was one of the best young men to ever come out of Scott Central, on and off the basketball court. Local officials of the American Red Cross have expressed concern over a decrease in area blood donations and have urged people to participate in one of a number of upcoming blood drives.
